Default Buick to delete name badge starting in 2019

This reeks of desperation and is actually kind of sad.

It's only being removed from the trunk lid, but still it's as if GM/Buick is ashamed of it's own name. Face it, the people who buy Buicks are mostly still AARP members.

You can see their desperation in their recent commercials showing young families and graduated and successful young men and women. [Come on, does this guy seriously look like he would actually choose a Buick?]

Spelling out a name in addition to a a prominent badge is redundant. Spelling out the name in lieu of the badge is another story...

All Buick has is crossovers that sell in any amount. Their cars are NOT hot sellers. Maybe they should relegate Buick to China. They could ditch the Regal and Lacrosse for the Malibu and Impala. Chevy and GMC have crossovers and Cadillac could use the premium crossover sales. GM does not need a "Mercury" division.

all cars look better with less badging anyway. usually the first thing i do when i get a car is get rid of all the excess writing and badges. one simple logo is all there should ever be.

You make a good point. However, there would be multiple lawsuits from the dealers if GM attempted to do that.
I thought I read somewhere that Buick's best selling car in North America is the Encore.

On another site, posters were pointing out that this is far from unusual. Many cars just use their emblem and the model designation. Sorry I don't have the link to share.

I would agree. It's just that, in this case, I get the strong feeling that it's also b/c marketing types think the "Buick" name is something to be embarrassed of.
