With the ATS coming, a fast turn around on the next gen CTS would be wise

This just appeared on 4/10/11, more spy shots of the anticipated Cadillac XTS, still cladded, but, this time, we could see a profile-shot, and here we can better judge the size, girth and proportions, which parallel the recent concept, which, itself, is production-close. It's likely that the 3.6L D.I. V6 will be a base mill, and an earlier reported upcoming 3.0L twin-turbo could be an upgrade. Here is a link to the report, with photos, posted below:

The side profile has a lot of current gen Taurus in it...which isn't a bad thing at all IMHO.

I would agree, except this is supposed to be Cadillac's flagship...

I'm not entirely sure I'd agree with that characterization. It's meant to be a replacement for the STS and the DTS, yes--i.e. a FWD replacement that more or less fills the role of both those cars (the larger, softer Cadillac)--but I'd hardly call either of those models "flagships." If anything, I'd call Cadillac a brand without a flagship, at this point, with hopefully a proper range-topper in the works.

The reports have said that this upcoming XTS is the successor to both the lame-duck, and outgoing DTS and STS, but as I've posted numerous times, I feel that the XTS is truly just the DTS successor, and the next-generation CTS, being larger and more upmarket, according to reports, will essentially be the STS successor. Underneath this, of course, there'll be much room for the upcoming ATS. I'm hoping that the often mentioned large, lower-volume RWD flagship sedan (possibly also a coupe along with it, too) gets the greenlight, and this will truly be the flagship(s). In some ways, you can either currently call the Escalade ESV Platinum the brand's flagship, or the CTS-V range, made up of the Sedan, Coupe, and Sportwagon.

Looks like it went to the droopy butt school of styling

Some new amateur spyshots:

Identified as ATS but most likely XTS. Almost looks like a Verano with a Cadillac gill on it though.

Size is hard to judge. The one with the Aveo oops Sonic makes it look like an ATS to me. American smaller cars used to have proportions that made them look bigger. Could Cadillac have resurrected that kind of a trick?

A top of the line Cadillac should be able to convey a sense of size and prestige even under camo in a grainy spy shot. The fact that it makes me think of a small Buick does not bode well.
