agreed. mmmmh let's see, a new Polo (or Cross Polo) or that new "thing", the Hyundai Kona? The Kona screams "look at me" for all the wrong reasons.

The problem for me is that it looks more archaic and worse than the model it is replacing. That's hardly a good outcome.

IMO it's a bit too early for a final judgement.

People complained a lot about the (Euro) Passat being very similar to the car it replaces - in real life it turned out light years better than the old one thanks too much improved proportions, although overall design is very similar. For those who never saw both cars parked one to another - the difference is striking. I'm hoping it'll also be the case with Polo, but let's wait and see.
