Attractive. Too much front overhand, and the rear set firewall suggests it has a V16 or something under that acre of sheetmetal forward of the windshield.

Economically, a RWD near-luxury sedan makes no sense for Mazda, but Mazda, for better and for worse, has never seemed that interested in turning a huge profit. I had actually forgotten that they could perhaps use the Giulia. I assume that Toyota isn't going to hand over their global RWD platform (I assume the new LS uses some sort of RWD platform that will distributed across various model lines somehow). Platform sharing w/ the Giulia is a rather intriguing idea.... Maybe FCA thinks that Mazda would such a marginal player in the segment, sales-wise, that they'd be willing to share?

I personally would prefer a Mazda RWD mid-size sedan to an Alfa....

Mazda is in a tough place as a manufacturer. It's not a big, full-line brand like Toyota, Honda, or Nissan. It's a brand that will struggle to go it alone. Thus, becoming the Japanese Audi to Toyota and Nissan's wannabe Mercedes/BMW efforts makes sense. Mazda is good for crossovers, but its sedans are sales let downs. I hope that if Mazda goes RWD that they borrow from Toyota (Lexus IS) rather than the duct-taped-together mongrel from Alfa.
