1. I actually think the waterfall and portholes would make it comical and contrived looking. I don't actually believe this is the new face of Buick, but with Lincoln doing a big, garish, "Buick" grille on their products maybe it's time for Buick to go a different way, or at least maybe to have the "sporting" ones have a "meaner" face.
2. I wish they'd have used the Riviera name.
3. Given that this is a badge-engineered Opel, they can always have the update cross the pond when it shows up. It could be that the decision to market the Cascada came so late that it made no sense to graft on a Buick face to a nose that is getting altered next year.
That said...The timing of the Cascada shows GM's idiocy. It should have crossed the pond the minute it was introduced. "Lifestyle" convertibles aren't the market they once were, but there is room in the market for the Cascada.
Only the VW Beetle comes close to being a competitor, but not all buyers will want a clown car. Forget the nearly dead Eos at $37K base.
If the Cascada comes well equipped for a value price (pretty much the formula Chrysler has used since the first K car convertibles), it will find owners.
Yes the Cascada will sell to fleets for resort areas, but also it will catch the retirees in master planned adult communities that want something stylish to drive to the golf course. I can also see it appealing to gum snapping Barbies aged 16 to gold digger
In the end sales are sales and production is production especially for beleaguered Opel.
