Official website with more flattering photos and very optimistic MPG estimates.

http://www.chevrolet.com/2016-malibu/

The design is growing on me.

If they sell the Malibu in Australia again, I hope it gets a different front bumper/grille treatment. Bit too fussy. I like the overall design aside from that.

I don't know what to think. The face is bizarre; the side is busy. Among the Americans, the Fusion and 200 look better by far.

It looks better than I expected, in fact I am rather impressed. It almost feels European in some aspect, the front wins over the rear for me, but it doesn't mean all is lost. I wouldn't mind seeing this here, but I am not sure how large it is compared to say the current mondeo.

Somehow the hood design reminds me of old clam shell from Saab.

That front end just looks so sad/depressed. Ugh. The crossbar fails again.

Remove the crossbar and I'm getting Audi Prologue vibes from that front end.

On the one hand, I find it very derivative: 1 part Impala + 2 parts 200C + 1 part Sonata = Malibu.

On the other, that's not a bad set of cars from which to crib, and the overall car works pretty well. I'm sure they'll have no trouble selling them.

Looks like a smaller, better-looking Impala. More polarizing looks for sure, but distinctive and modern too. Also love the interior. Worlds better than the outgoing model. This show is shaping up with a lot of really nice interiors for average joe type cars.

The hybrid mpg is impressive. I hope its not an estimate of the EPA numbers....

One would hope that Chevy would not be so stupid as to not have the right number.

Volt was originally quoted at 230MPG....

Beside that - the more I see this car, the more I like it. It reminds me a lot of what the Impala could have been. I like the tail end of it as well - the slope is nice.
