I guess on the one hand the fold top "melted soap" 2000s SC kind of ruined the name for many, and on the other hand, this is a bit of a different vehicle. less luxurious, more performance/high tech. Not a second Godzilla or LFA, but still more Ring than Golf Club. I guess Lexus wants that to be reflected.

Also the SC could still happen, and if it did, I would expect it to slot somewhere between the RC and the LC price-wise.
