Default 2019 Volkswagen Touareg

https://www.cars.co.za/motoring_news...evealed/44418/

Here it is; Looking like, well, a VW Touareg;

Your cheapest way into a Bentley Bentyaga technically (this is a Q7 reskin as well), even though with a way less posh badge. Interior is your standard VW unit though, no confusing it with a Bentley there. Massive screen, looks weirdly though like someone photoshopped a 200% scaled version of a Golf Satnav there; Center air vents are very low as result;

VW Touareg, Phantom and latest CC are probably the best bank for the buck if you like the latest and most modern tech. At least you don't pay for the badge.

Don't bring up RS, M and AMG, when most what these sub-brands sell are packages on small engines low spec vehicles rather than cars.

Phantom? The Rolls? Or the Phaeton? Which is no longer available?

Also, the CC has been replaced with the VW Arteon, which really has no ground breaking tech nor is it great value. Yes, it is cheaper than a BMW or Mercedes, but it also doesn't feel premium, and compared to offerings form lesser brands, it's definitely not cheap.

I think it looks very good in this beige tone:

Monitor implementation is pretty well done for a display of this size IMO:

I am generally not a huge fan of putting every task on a touch screen though.

The Atlas is simply the better choice. This is the best looking Touareg yet, but it's likely to be--again--far too expensive for what you get.

The new-generation Touareg is nice and sharp, well appointed, and it's a pity that it will not be sold in the USDM. The USDM is focusing more on the Atlas, and the larger, new-generation Tiguan. Also, in the USA, there's going to be a an Atlas 2-row coupe-like SUV on the way, which will be previewed by a concept at the 2018 NY Auto Show. Also, the past Touaregs have lived in the shadows of it's Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne cousins.

Upthread, something was mentioned about the Phaeton sedan, I understand that there's going to be an indirect return, but as an all-electric entry as a part of the I.D. family, and the recent I.D. Vizzion concept from Geneva previews it.

Touareg is premium without badge, Atlas is cheap FWD underpowered.

Except that VW isn't premium. Except that it costs as much as an Audi. Thus, a stupid product.

The Atlas does everything the Toedrag does and more and it does so for less money. #WINNING

This looks like a cheap version of a Porsche Macan + Audi Q7. It is so bland, IMHO, that it looks like the fake-car-from-an-insurance-commercial (that one poster here used to describe the Jetta). I'm ready to say that VW is having a full-blown design crisis.

The interior is fine, if overly and self-consciously linear. Not my taste, and the center vents look useless.

I doubt this car would sell well in the U.S., so it's a good thing they're not bringing it here.

The Touareg has been a horrible seller in the USA.
