I want to say VW had some concept that had a side view like this. This isn't ugly, but it leaves me ambivalent.

Looks like someone shot a Jeep renegade with gamma rays, let it have its way with a Land Rover, and then it got adopted by Toyota who styled it.

what the F**K TOYOTA

the FJ Cruiser still has one of the highest resale values in a sea of contenders, do you know how to take a hint?

It does remind of some previous design (concept?) which I can't put my finger on. Nevertheless, it's grotesque.

There are elements here that are neat / interesting.

The side profile has a cool 'X' in it that I think could go somewhere (almost an X like the Easter Eggs in the Renegade). Of course the rear portion of the side needs a window - but that's an easy placement.

The front...I get what they're trying to do here (a Toyota version of the Raptor front) using their name as the anchor - but it comes off more Tonka than Raptor to these eyes.

Back end is weird.

I do think this could become the next FJ. And it could do well; provided they fix a few things (fuel economy / handling)...my uncle (HARD CORE Toyota fan) LOVED the last FJ - and walked away as the fuel economy was hideous. I get you don't buy something like this for fuel economy; but when a Wrangler looks at an FJ and says 'Dude - really? That's a pile of fuel you're going through' - you know it's bad.

I doubt that was their goal, but Tonka styling could be a selling point.

There are a lot of interesting touches and flourishes, but the overall look is oddly derivative.

Very, very nice. Nice design!

I see a solid axle at the back, so it could be a serious off-roader. I also see no air intake in front. This indicates the car is electric. An electric off-road car (built by mainstream, not custom garage) would be a first. Hopefully the new Land Cruiser will have a good hybrid or even and electric with range extender version.

I read somewhere that these tyres are the same as those on some version/trim of the Jeep Wrangler with bodes well in that regard. Good eye on the solid rear axle.
