The front looks so truck like, would have been better with slimmer headlights. Is this the best BMW can do?

Maybe, but from what I remember and from posting here, the new 7er is supposed to have more technological and engineering advances than styling.

If the rumour of 150kg less weight vs the current model, then it should be interesting what this brings in terms of fuel economy and handling.

The interior is interesting, i think there are new design details for BMW. Evolutive for sure, but at least moving forward. I agree that headlights should be slimmer. And the back is great!

In any case i'll wait for official pics, these ones could be misleading.

I see that, and at least three reports surfaced regarding a potential 9-Series at BMW, to bridge the gap between the top-end 7-Series model and the regular-wheelbase Rolls-Royce Ghost. It could be based on that Vision Future Luxury concept that debuted during the course of last year. The 9-Series could run against the Mercedes-Maybach S600. It's also reported that the incoming CEO, Harald Krüger, is a fan of the 9-Series, and could very well give it the green light. Of course, this has a place in this thread, for the 9-Series would be based on a stretched new-generation 7-Series chassis. I was going to post this here, but, you beat me to it!

After this "not yet out but already outdated" new 7er, the 9er is highly needed.

I find it perplexing that the concept was so right of form that none of its language was used--or so it seems--on the new 7 Series. Is it really new? Is this perhaps a mild warm over in advance of a truly new 7 in a couple of years?

The reason I liked the BMW concept--and the Lagonda sedan for that matter--is because they are uber luxury that look lean in sinewy rather than porcine and blubbery like the S Class/Maybach look to my eyes.

If I were buying a vehicle in the S Class range, it would be the BMW hands down because I find it infinitely more tasteful and less shouty than the lard butted Mercedes. Did I mention I don't like the styling of the S Class?

That said, the new 7 is a complete stand-still as if they borrowed Audi/VW's design ethic.

Disappointing to say the least.

a few of the features revealed as well as slight glimpse at the interior. carbon uses seems substantial. I hope there's an App that you can use instead of that incredibly bulky key which will loose its cool factor the second you have to put it in your pocket.

Will the remote control parking actually be legal in US? I'm sure someone finds a way to ban it.

I believe Tesla is rolling something similar out this Summer, which is somehow limited to private property. I guess this would include privately owned parking lots
