Unless you can provide hard evidence I still think it will use the same platform as the new Fabia.

I hope that's not aimed at me - I'm backing you up 100%!

I'm not patronizing you and I specifically noted that my comment applied to everyone. Thankfully the discussion seems to have moved on. Let's do the same ;)

That's great news, do you know when we can expect a preview of the Polo as well? The current model feels like it has stayed too long into production. Also do you know if the production versions of the UP! models will also use this chassis?

Autocar says the Fabia is the first with the new generation platform but other sources say it isn't that the Ibiza will be the first to have it.

The uP! series of models will get a new advanced platform to allow the engine to be placed at the rear under the floor.

This is what TopGear says in their Fabia review:

Quote:
Compared to its recent rivals (such as the Renault Clio, Peugeot 207 and Fiat Punto) the new Skoda Fabia hasn't grown much since it sits on much the same platform as before.
So the Fabia can't be the one using the new platform

Exactly. I've been trying to find a bulletproof source for this but I'm failing. It just seems to be something that techy people who know about VWG platforms just know... ;-)

Not a typical motoring source, but see here and scroll down to SEAT: http://archives.tcm.ie/businesspost/...story28791.asp

Yeah i thought so because i read more sources that say that the Fabia is on the old platform than sources that say its on the new platform! Its confusing but i believe its on the old one because the A1 has four wheel drive and it would be difficult to modify the current platform for that set up which is why Audi generally use their own platforms.
