Default 2009 SEAT Exeo

Finally confirmed: the replacement for the Toledo will use the platform of the current Audi A4. It will likely change name for Bolero. Finally some good news for Seat.

Sounds good, though the article claim design will only change a little from the current A4 (fron and back to adapt Seat design). So this means the A4 will live on for quite a while (it came out in 2000, remeber!).....

I thought Seat was supposed to be a value brand? They are going from selling the Toledo as a Bora/Jetta with a Seat badge, to the present bizarre hatch thing, to selling a rebadged A4? Surely this is more expensive than the Golf-based versions.

Like mick78 said, the A4 goes back to 2000 so its hardly an expensive platform since its already dated and will be even more by 2009 (almost 10 years old by then). Remember VW uses the Passat as basis for the cheaper Skoda Superb as well. Regardless of that i seriously dont see the point of this. They are turning SEAT into another version of Skoda which in its turn even rivals VW. SEAT needs sporty cars, not executive wannabe;s

I wouldn't mind buying a restyled A4 for the price of a Toledo, even if it will be replaced by a new, better A4. The platform is old, but still extremely up to date and for a cheaper Seat makes a lot of sense. It's better than the current GOlf underpinnings anyway.

Most ppl wont see it like that. And as a brand SEAT has some serious image problems to sort out. I mean this sedan is like having Britney Spears sing Jazz music just cause some ppl might want to listen to it. Will it fit her image?Noooooo. Will it increase sales?Nooooo

I disagree. The first gen Toledo sold well, and the second one, although it wasn't a big success, is very well regarded. A sporty, affordable sedan will surely sell better than the abomination that the current Toledo is.

As for it being A4 based, well, that's not really a bad thing. One, it won't just be a Leon Sedan, like i was dreading it to be, and two, it's an established base, that is very much up to date. Now, lets just see what they can come up with.

What's so bad about using the A4 platform?. Half of VAG cars use the Golf platform and no one complaints about that. Not that the A4 is bad when it comes to platform quality, is it?. I only hope it is nit *just* a restyled A4. As long as all body work is new, it will be fine.

If it looks good and costs as much as the current Toledo, I'd definately buy such a discounted/disguised A4.

The problema with the 2nd gen Toledo was rear space IMHO and price position. The 3rd gen - well no comment.

If they simply use styling cues off the Bolero concept with confortable interior space, the Toledo could help SEAT get back on track for this segment.
