Default 2019 Skoda Kamiq

Anotehr day, anotehr VAG cross over it seems; SO this is a sub Karoq model, but only for the CHinese market; Teh design has few surprises, though form certain angles you can IMO tell that it rides on a dated platform (PQ34, which means Golf Mk. IV form the 90ies)

Wow that's dull. And overall unattractive imo. Detailing and body work are very Chinese. Headlights are oversized and cheap looking. Plastic cladding looks extra wide. That interior could be from 2008.

Skoda just doesn't do it for me as a brand at all. It's like they're all worse iterations of VW's minimal theme. Just dolled up with awkward/dated bits and pieces.

And yet, it's better styled than VWs.

This really looks just a poor man's Tiguan (with quite dated tech underneath anyway). I'm certainly not a huge VAG fanboy, but I don#t see where this looks better than any VW cross over on sale.

It's a budget model designed in China, for China - so of course it's going to look Chinese. They have no plans to sell this anywhere else.

That said, it's still less offensive than the Tiguan.

The Tiguan has actually grown on me. It's much better looking in person. Very clean lines. Tasteful detailing. I'm also loving that deep red-orange they offer it in. Very unique but not obnoxious.

Yeah the VW totally scalds the Skoda for looks.

This may look dated but the Tiguan looks ungainly in the face.

I'd say it's a battle on low levels. The fight for ungainly detailing will be ultimately won over the choice of trim level, given how much fake vents and cheap chrome bling is added;

The face is awful; the side profile awkward. At least the rear looks somewhat tolerable...

Like all Skodas, the interior underwhelms.
