It'S likely true for the Regal (which i produced by Opel), but even there a certain amount of guaranteed Buicks is not that much of a deal sweetener, given the very low figures are even low by European D-segment standards. The LaCorss has never been made by Opel, and the rights to the platform remain with GM as far as I understood the takeover, so I doubt this was a huge deal for the whole PSA/Opel deal....

The Regal and Lacrosse are slightly different variations of the same platform and that extends to the Malibu and Impala as well.

I know, and thus I don't think that apart from a few Regals, the large GM Platform was part of the PSA deal a lot.

PS: Isn't the Cadillac XTS also based on this platform, or is that on an older generation?

Same platform. As for "generations", GM is very much an "old wine/new bottle" company. They also want you to believe that the Cadillac XT4/5 share noting with the Equinox when they are most decidedly in common.
