FCA needs sales and profits. The Alfieri--which makes me think of Guy Fieri in an Alfa Romeo--simply isn't the vehicle to produce volume and profits, but it most decidedly would sap resources and time that could be better spent on vehicles that would have a financial impact. A Maserati SUV to battle the Range Rover would make more sense as will the Stelvio, Journey, and Wagoneer. Hell throw on a Ram "Suburban" too.

In another non-surprise, Grand Wagoneer and next-gen HD Ram are delayed:

But, by all means, SUVs are the company's priority...

I'm guessing that they've found a buyer and are slashing all R&D.

Exactly. If anything that's the one they'd hold onto.

Allpar said that "Asians" were seen touring all parts of Chrysler. Aside from the imprecision of the generic racial term, Hyundai/Kia is the perfect partner.

H/K needs Jeep and Ram to continue its growth. I would guess the Italian brands wouldn't be a part of the sale, BUT Hyundai platforms could easily be used by Fiat for its products and the Qporte and Ghibli will need a platform newer than the Mercedes-to-Dodge-to-Maserati LX and Genesis is ideal in that respect.

I wonder if Google won't buy FCA to power its new Waybo project. They certainly have the money, and it's cheaper than starting from scratch.

And? He said nothing about the GC's platform in his post.

See....I disagree with this. I think there is HUGE potential for Chrysler and Dodge. I think their stable of nameplates is meaningful AND could deliver great AND profitable results.

The problem with Chrysler / Dodge has been:
- Poor QC; this is easily fixed - EVERY company has had poor QC (ESPECIALLY early Kia / Hyunida) products, figure out the cause - fix it. Simple. However, having the stones to identify the issue is the problem.
- Utter lack of innovation.
->300 / Charger - date back to 2003. Beyond some meaningful updates - same basic produc
-> Dart - had potential, poorly executed, last 'new' Dodge and that was 2012...
-> 200 - great looking car, some interior excellece, marred by poor QC
-> Journey - launched 2008 with a HORRID interior and poor QC; some decent updates that would have served till the next one...but that hasn't happened.

Dodge / Chrysler are MIA for the CUV market; despite a sister company with ample expertise in this area. They need a small, medium and full sized STAT.

It would take a PILE of work - and really getting products out there ASAP; but there is value in saving these brands.
