Default Was Isuzu on to something?

When their entire lineup in the 90s and 2000s were SUVs and pickup trucks?

Probably; But sometimes, timing is also a thing, and you can be onto something way too early with your idea.

Not counting rebadges at that time like the Isuzu Aska, wasn't the only actual car they had the Gemini?

So they're only really dropping one particular model they couldn't compete with.

I think by the early 90ies the Gemini became a rebadge as well...

No. That's all they had because people were not into their class trailing cars so the profits to fund good cars went poof. Their pickups and SUVs haven't been that stellar either, but they have been passable. Isuzu never has been and never will be a leader.
