I personally think the pics shown in the spy shots don't look as good as the current Lacrosse.

To me it looks like a draw. The current car looks too thick and this one looks less so, but the new one is also not special looking. It's generic and not very upscale looking. Granted it's a very poor shot, but assuming it's accurate, it's a sputter. It really is unfortunate that the Lacrosse is not ushering in a new look that the Avenir previewed, but I'm seeing ZERO Avenir.

I'd have done Buick as follows:

I'd have loved to have seen a new Holden Commodore off the Cadillac platform that would have been sold as a Commodore where the Commodore is sold and as an Avenir in the States.

I'd have leveraged the new Camaro for a new Riviera.

I'd have dumped the Lacrosse name actually.

An Invicta pulled off the Impala to battle the Lexus ES makes sense.

A Regal/Grand National pulled off the Malibu would be the bottom Buick.

Cue the crossovers...

I've thought for quite some time that Invicta + Insignia are MUCH better names than LaX/Regal
(& would work well with Electra for a voltec car)

2020 facelift leaked in China:

Front end is basically a Mazda 6 at this point...

This isn't ugly, but what's the point? This is an insufferably bland car with an odd swirl on the side with a new face that looks 5 years old. The Lacrosse should have been on a Cadillac platform as a CTS sized vehicle for at or or below ATS pricing. Everyone knows the Lacrosse is a Rentabu/Impala, so why not buy the Impala that looks better?

It still looks also like an Opel, I wonder at what point will one of the two brands start to have a new design direction....

Given that the Regal doesn't sell and that the Lacrosse doesn't sell and that together they represent only 30K units in the US market there simply is no reason to have two sedans of similar size and price that the market isn't paying attention to.

GM probably got blackmailed into a certain amount of production as a condition of dumping the useless Opel on the feckless French.
