A better move would have been to have done an Alfa Romeo version of the Renegade with decidedly Italian flair for a 10% bump in price over the Jeep. The 500X looks phoned in by Toyota. It's not offensive--assuming these renders are in the ball park--but it's not special enough to plunk $25K down on for a nicely equipped mid model which is where I imagine its placement if FCA is dumb enough to bring this to NA.

Well, given that the small CUV segment is the fastest growing in Europe, milking the paltform in terms of versions makes sense. The rugged looking Jeep (and not tooo few will argue: weird) is surely not for everyone, and will also most likely be pricier than the Fiat, which, with it's softer and less offensive lines should attract a different crowd. So offering both is IMO purposefull and not overly dumb.
I agree, offering an Alfa ROmeo verison could make sense, making it the most posh version of the theoretically three, but given Marhcione's currnet state of mind concerning ALfa Romeo, he likes to kill ALfa in all sgements that could sell carts and concentrate on nice but limited potential niche products (expensive RWD spider - not the MX-5, large RWD sedans instead of teh Giulietta), I doubt it will happen....
