sounds cool, but it sounds like it may be stepping on the heels of the miata- i mean mx-5

The first generation Miata. It's still a Miata, but you get the idea. This would be good news for people like me since I still like the MX-5, but not as much as the original Miata. The new one has just grown so much.

I don't get it, The miata/MX-5 is already pretty damn small. I'm guessing this would be more for JDM and EU markets. In NA, the miata is about as small as things get.

it looks a bit like that Sassou concept from the front, so it could be based on the same platform as that (presumably Sassou being an idea of what Mazda 2 will look like)

so it would be a rival for 206CC, Tigra, Micra CC

I see this being aimed at cars like the Mini Cooper and Cabriolet, as well as being a more focused rival the more sporting variants of European supermini's, such as Vauxhall's Corsa-based Tigra, Peugeot's 206CC and Nissan's Micra C+C, which, despite appearances, are almost definitely smaller than an MX-5.

I really don't see the need for two roadsters in the Mazda lineup what Mazda is really missing is a small coupe I'd rather them build a sucessor to the MX-3 as opposed to this.
