I like the New Sport Trac from the Concept.. I liked the old one as well, but this is certainly a lot more refined and something I'd be much more willing to consider

I'm going for a sedan though in the next year or so.

My son and I were at a monster truck rally last night, have pics of a pink ford Sport Trac tearing up the course they had for "street machines" It was pink and the lady driving it was excellent, got second place in the overal competition (third place was a stock gren Explorer whose driver impressed me even more, he was drifting that thing!! ) . I'll edit it into this post later after I've edited it and put it online.

Anywho, I've always like the concept of the sport trac... came well before the Avalanch popularized the catagory, too bad the Avalanche is much better than it, Good thing the Avalanche is ugly and too large.

This new sport trac looks pretty good. The roof rack looks a little out of place though. All in all, Ford is moving in a good direction.

I agree that Ford is going the right direction but I think Ford should go the extra mile...still the design are very conservative!

The cab parts look much the same as the current model (minus the door handles), but the bed is SIGNIFICANTLY different. Even the gas filler door is missing. Much more toned-down feeling than MY2005. Of course what's under the camo could change everything.

I have always had problems with how the bed of Sport Trac connects to the rest of the vehicle. (Actually I have the same problem with other midsize 4 door pickups). This is why I really like how the Sport Trac concept has the lower bed section smoothly transition into the lower running boards. I think that it added good overall flowing affect. The gap between the body and the bed does not look that big.

However, the concept styling does not hold true for the Spy pics of the 07 Sport Trac. I hope that they at least provide the concept styling as an option or as an aftermarket accesory.

Ultimately, I would love a 2007 or 2008 Sport Trac with something like a V-6 PowerStroke diesel and a tow rating of around 7000 lbs. In fact - whoever comes out with the first midsize diesel pickup - I will have to buy it.

The side is very plane looking. I think it needs more. But i cant wait to get a peek at what the front looks like, i want that grille on there! (3 bar) it just looks so madness...

actually i think it's supposed to be based on the new explorer, even though it looks like the old model. i dunno, the concept looked like it had the exact same doors, but apparently it's not on the same platform as before

It's all new, It's wider and longer

It just keeps the design theme, so your assessment should be more along the lines of "yet another old body covering up new mechanical components" (A La DCX Minivans)
