i dont think fiat is daring enough to venture into the USA just yet. Maybe when alfa has a few dealers in the US they will sell them through alfa dealers, like fiat re-debuted in australia

alfa isnt getting their own dealers though, they are being sold thru maserati dealers, which totally sucks because there are only like 50 maserati dealers in the US. closest one to me is in the city.

what i meant is they could use alfa dealers when they are built, and eventually have there own "fiat" dealers because fiat if they ventured in to the US would arive around 2011/2012 and by then alfa should have a few dealers?

Large percentage of existing Maserati dealers were formerly Alfa dealers. I think 8C is a toe in the pond.

There was a long winded argument here http://www.carspyshots.net/zerothread?id=22975

it wounder if it would sell?

It could actually have quite a wide market. The trend is already beginning where people are buying hair-shirt weezer mobiles to drive to work during the week so that they can reduce gas consumption and be able to drive the vehicles that they enjoy on the weekend. This thing spanks the Toyota Yaris, Scion XD, Hyundi Accent, Kia Rio, Suzuki Reno (still available???) in style. It should have excellent mileage and even if it is a gutless wonder, its style makes it a gotta have. The same is true for the Citroen 2CV reincarnation prototype.

Additionally, despite high fuel cost, Americans still travel in motor homes with a tow-behind vehicle.

Thus the inherent stupidity of selling Alfas through Maserati dealers. If Alfa had been paired with a more mainstream partner then something like the Fiat 500 could just show up. Now that Chrysler has been cast aside like a pair of stale boxer shorts, Cerberus could latch onto a partner with a load of small car knowledge. If Fiat cannot see the brilliance of the moment, they truly are doomed.

Next question: How soon will Chery or Geely have a copy of this running around?

I read in a dutch car magazine that the production for the 500 for 2008 is already sold out (125.000 cars.)

The production of 2008 is probably sold out to the dealers, cause they dont take any orders for custumors yet (Netherlands) because the prices arent available yet.
It also says that in 2010 the 500 will arrive in the US.
