2020/21 Nissan Juke
After it had already been hinted at the Kicks not replacing the Juke in Europe and some other markets (where the Juke was a hit because of it's styling, not despite), here finally the new Juke testing:
https://www.carscoops.com/2019/02/20...-new-platform/
Like the Micra it is switching to the CFM-B platform, shared with the new Clio and upcoming Captur form parent Renault, and engines will likely be shared with the Micra as well.
Styling wise, it does seem to keep a lot of the Qashqai cues, but with hints of more mature (Kicks/Micra inspired) detailing. so no surprises there. We will see the real deal later this year, with probably a concept version before...

It looks more conventional (which might just indicate that bizarro styling has become more mainstream over the past 5-10 yrs), and I wonder if that will actually hurt sales....

Looks like the grill is going to be more prominent. Yikes.
Still, I'm sort of glad that they're continuing with the Juke. It's ugly, yes, but in a cute sort of way. It's a design that doesn't take itself seriously and I appreciate that.

It does seem to get the thick chrome "V" that newer Nissans have adapted, though combined with the classic Juke dual headlights. Certainly not for everyone.
Otherwise I agree, I always prefer small car designs that are funky, and don#t take themselves too serious over those that try to look overly premium or sports car like (because no small car will ever be truly a sports car or a luxury product).
Hell, even a Mini or Fiat 500 are not beautiful, some would even say borderline ugly in classic design terms, but cure and fun to look at. Or, I bet most people remember the first Renault Twingo, e.g., but have already forgotten the dull 2nd gen model, e.g.

I'm unreasonably excited for this thing. It's so absurd looking and a breath of fresh air among Nissan's tired lineup. None of their SUVs are at all compelling and it baffles me that they've been able to maintain sales.
But the Juke has always been a spark of weird.
Absolute idiocy that it's not coming to the US.

Not really. The Puke was a terrible seller and the Kicks is doing so much better.

Agreed. Whilst the design is a love or hate affair, it's definitely something fresh and different. It's just a shame that it's by most accounts not a very good car. Hopefully Nissan will be able to rectify some of that with the redesign.

Repulsive looking. If I were going to settle for Nissan "quality" and wanted a vehicle from them of this size, the Kicks would be the one I'd take.
