I am pretty sure it is the 5-Series. Here's a link to photos from the cars right side:
http://www.worldcarfans.com/11311056...for-first-time

If you take a look at the cars fuel filler cap you'll see it is installed higher than on earlier spy shots of the 7-Series.
Plus the roof antenna (hope I chose the right word for that) is installed differently.
These are technical details that can't be changed very easy which is why I am pretty sure that this is indeed the 5-Series. Plus: It's size. Although I have to admit that this is hard to see on any of these pics.

Well, in case anyone had any doubt about the next 5-series looking virtually identical to the current one, your doubts have been erased:

I commend BMW on what appears to be a very airy greenhouse (esp now that MB is creating cars w/ high beltlines), but this is boring, boring, boring....

A peek at the (heavily shrouded) interior:

If this ends up looking more like the 3-Series on the inside, that's an epic fail, IMHO....

I think there were earlier interior shots that suggest its going to be a mini 7-series inside. I'll see if I can find them.

Update:

Here we go, back from October 2015: http://www.bmwblog.com/2015/10/21/sp...-bmw-5-series/

Looks like a smaller version of the 7 series, some spy shots of that interior when it was covered: http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...mage=100472660

While the 7 Series is far from ugly it is also far from special. If this is a "meet the new 5 same as the old 5" experience like the 7 was over its predecessor, then Mercedes will laugh even more loudly to the bank.

The 6GC has incredible swagger in person. BMW needs to bottle that and infuse it into its designs.

The problem for BMW with this car will not be the design. I am 100% sure it will look better than the new E. But, will it be up to the E in terms of gizmos? This car is taking forever to be shown, and i wonder if they had to get back to engineering office to see if they can cram in some new systems after the E was unveiled.

Knowing the 3 German premium manufacturers, this seems likely. One cannot afford not to match every useless feature or niche, but you have to surpass them even.

There we go. BMW is finally showing it. Relax, it is still covered but some bits can be seen.

The side and rear look quite similar to current car, but the headlights are intriguing.

I predict a major disappointment when the decals come off. Just like the 7 Series it will be indistinguishable from the one it replaces. Mercedes is making BMW and Audi look foolish.
