I guess we can thank China for that, which is probably more and more the core market for anything premium. Given a 5 series (or even 3 series) is usually bought in LWB shape and driven by a chauffeur, no wonder driver involvement is not top priority there. So i guess techno gizmos and isolated driving experience are more and more what makes cars premium....

It sort of seems like they would need to give future 3, 5, and 7 sedans a taller DLO since they haven't developed any design language that differentiates the otherwise similar 4 and 6 "gran coupes" from them.

BMW films will release a new movie on October 23rd. I assume the new BMW 5 series will be part of it. Therefore I think it is save to expect the world premier (which is in fact a media premier) around this date.

Public premier will be at NAIAS 2017 in Detroit.

Knowing BMW, nothing surprising. But not as good as E-class, not even close. The only good looking thing in that interior is the steering wheel.

Well, at least there's some stitching over the instrument panel and along the center console?

Placement of the iDrive knob seems particularly bad to me. Doesn't look like it'll come close to the E-Class, and I assume it'll get slaughtered by the next A6.

And is that silver trim on the dashboard??? How very... Hyundai.

On a somewhat related note, Thomas Weber (I think) over at Mercedes threw some shade in BMWs direction when he said during an interview that carbon fiber wasn't a good idea to reduce weight in mainstream cars....
