Personally, I love the look of the current generation, and find this atrocious looking. It's certainly polarising, that's for sure. IMO, Mercedes's design team has lost their way in recent times, and this is another example that adds to this view.

I on the other hand think Mercedes has found its groove and is obliterating the generic mobiles from BMW and Audi. I used to despise Mercedes styling and within the past 3 years, I've become a huge fan.

I read that this is a 4 door E class coupe which is actually a C class chassis. This is now a tarted up C-class for more money than an E ?

Pretty sure the E-Class coupe was moved to the E-Class sedan's chassis when it get re-designed.

I specifically recall reading otherwise. CLK became E but thats it. Narrower chassis and all.

Maybe the CLS is still based on the E.

The new CLS is based on the E-Class:

The CLK used to be C Class based, but the new E-Class coupe is now properly an "E- Coupe", though, strictly speaking, C and E Class now share a platform/component set (the S-Class though still uses an evolution of the W221 chassis), that will underpin all RWD products; But width wise, and in terms of say the dash board, the E-Class now is one familay using the same parts;

The CLS has always been and still is a 4 door coupe E-Class...
