Default Oldsmobile Toronado

Is quite in here so thought I'd post something

Have been without a fully working laptop for far too long, sorted now so wanted to draw something, it's not quite a modern day reimagining of a '66 Toronado but more that car with more modern proportions and surfacing.

Also have an update on the Ferrari posted last year, having a crack at a 3D model again

It looks good! Are you still doing transportation design work? I think I would try and emphasize the car's length - I don't know if you've ever seen Toronado in person, but they're very long vehicles, and I feel that's such a big part of that car's identity.

It's a shame how this section has died - no one even comments anymore. I really only do 3D work now (and some sketches). I used to post so much on this site and others, sketches and stuff, and now no one really does that anymore.

That looks the part!. Do you have some front or rear images from the same design to share too?

You're entirely right, is very difficult to do with modern proportions, did try to keep a lot of horizontal lines. The use of oversized "sell the idea" design sketch wheels probably doesn't help much.

And never managed to break into auto design, working in other design fields. Though currently furloughed so going to have another crack at it. Unfortunately you need a lot of time (read money) to manage and as someone who's always had to work at least 6 days a week to get by it's not been possible. Now is my chance.

Some very brief sketches but nothing rendered. I didn't want to get bogged down and accidently turn it into a full on project when it's just supposed to be a bit of airbrushing practice to get myself back into it.

That looks great. It's too bad this section is so quiet now, I've definitely played a part in that. Apart from doodling at work I haven't really done much sketching in a long time. The prospect of $100k in student debt scared me off from design school.

I ended up with a fine arts degree (from an in-state school) but I agree, getting a transportation design degree was so scary.

Took me a few years to save for university but was quite lucky with costs. Couldn't afford University in England but could in Wales (heavily subsidised fees). Also as it's my home country I have extra grants available. So instead of around 40,000 debt I only ended up with less than 10k.
