I agree, but explain this to me: why can't there be a Miata GT option with 300 horsepower and a handling suspension with some meat to the tires?

A Porsche 718 Boxster isn't close enough?

I think a Miata w/, let's say, 220 hp might make sense. W/ 300 hp and wide tires... It just seems like unnecessary overkill, IMHO.

Mazda does not have huge budget compared to other Japanese automakers.

The fastest engine in the current lineup is 2.5 liter turbo engine (SKYACTIV-G Turbo) which generates something like 220-250 HP.

I don't know if the 2.5 engine will fit in the Miata though...........

Similar idea behind the toyota 86 (old and new unless you have the Group A engine) and lower end versions of the lotus elise are hot even with 140 hp.
