Your sage opinion notwithstanding ()...

Mini Cooper S
VW GTI
Focus ST
Civic Si
Mustang V6 (get 'em while you can)
Mustang Ecoboost
Camaro V6

And some would say
Camry
Altima
200
Mirage

The new TVR will be the same price has 4 BRZs...why anyone would want even one BRZ is beyond me

I can't believe I'm writing this but I'm in agreement with you. Besides, this commentary from Levi matches his knowledge of cars as displayed in the Fiat Tipo thread where he proclamed

"In this class of cars, every single car s*cks. These cars simply s*ck, so I'd set for the cheapest one, Fiat or Dacia or 1 Series for RWD (the last one by the way).".....

He is right RWD rules all. Sure, FWD will get a cowboy up broke back mountain quicker, however.

Indeed RWD is lovely, but the BRZ just isn't the poster car to make that definitive statement with, when for the price of admission, there are simply cars that are faster around a track, some of them FWD. At the track, the BRZ simply isn't demonstrably superior to a GTI. If anything, the opposite is likely to be true.

The GTI is pretty darned perfect for the price.

There are two major problems with the BRZGT86FRS. The first is that it's a slider, not a gripper. Drifting through a curve is a lot of fun, but it sure is slow. Yes, you can put better tires on it and fiddle with the suspension to make it handle, but that only exacerbates the second problem. It needs 300 horsepower to be taken seriously as a sports car. A smooth turbo 4 from Toyota could solve that.

Toyota got silly when they tasked Subaru with creating an RWD sports car because Subaru had no experience with such a car and the result shows. The BMWota will likely be the opposite of the GT86, but the problem will likely be ridiculous pricing. Toyota should kill the GT86 and create a mainstream version of the Supra--a Celica--that meets a sane price point. THAT would be most delightful.

I dont hear any complaints about the handling, only power. Subaru did just fine under toyota's direction.

Perhaps you didn't have time to read, but I didn't include the ZR1 because in the thread prior to these comments was the following context:

Last I checked, a BRZ costs less than a ZR1.

Glad we have that crucial detail out of the way.
