I'd say as far as sports car interiors go, this is one of the coolest/nicest/cleanest I've seen. basically a sportier version of the S class interior. Every time I see something like this it reminds me of what a disappointment the SL is, and that's only the interior... Mercedes seems to have finally found the perfect blend of minimalist yet functional interior.

I'm not disagreeing that eventually MB will support Android, but I don't think the controller is any indication of that agreement, nor is Google Maps seen in the display. The same article against the wall posted states:

"Not only does Mercedes-Benz have plans for Android-based in-car systems, but it will also continue to offer its Drive Kit Plus, Digital DriveStyle App, COMAND Online, and Mercedes-Benz apps that let users access a variety of smartphone apps from Facebook to Google Maps through the in-car display. "

Meaning that Google Maps is already used by MB independent of an Android system.

Surprise, surprise, there's a convertible that'll be fully revealed shortly:

Question: btw this and the S-Class coupe, what the heck is the point of the SL again?

I think that the SL is really having a crisis. Also, I think that - apart from probably some commercial vehicles - it's currently the least attractive Mercedes design.

Having read the next will be developed by AMG, it leaves me with even more confusion. Given the S-Class convertible now caters the wealthy grey haired sun lovers, I think the AMG GT and SL should be unified into a proper 2 seat sports car, paying tribute to the 300SL that launched the name. Wait, Mercedes had this, as the SLS. But never mind, don't replace that....

I agree. I vote for renaming the Mercedes-AMG GT convertible as the "SL" and then killing the current SL...

exactly. take 6 inches from the hood and put it into the cabin to make it slightly more roomy and call it the next gen SL. this niche model can be a true super car instead of a 911 competitor which is what the SL should've been.

Interesting that the convertible was designed first. Not sure what the heck happened that the GT convertible is so beautiful while the SL is so... well....

I agree w/ that removing 6 inches from the hood length would make it perfect....
