Burlappcar and a couple of other sites are reporting that Europe will keep the Mondeo as an Outback-rivaling AWD wagon in a near future update:

http://www.burlappcar.com/2018/07/20...rd-fusion.html

Render looks more like a French car, unlikely for the Mondeo wagon to end up looking like that, especially if its only an update of the existing model...

Yup already being discussed here, as it’s not related to the current gen: http://www.carspyshots.net/showthrea...695#post493695

The new car will supposedly have a higher roof than the Mondeo station wagon, but will indeed be a reskinned FusDeo.

First the Fusion is dead and now it will live on. That move is making Ford look bipolar. Fusion sales dropped precipitously when Ford announced that the Fusion was dead in four years. That was an astoundingly dumb move especially since the new-new Fusion is really the old Fusion with a different body which is what cancelled new Fusion was going to be anyway.

The Regal TourX is NOT selling well. In fact, the new Regal is selling as dismally as the car it replaced. The butch station wagon approach will NOT be the most effective way to create a car with the potential to sell 200-250K units.

Well in many ways Ford is indeed killing it off as it will resurface in a completely different segment than previously. They may not even continue with the Mondeo/Fusion name.

The Subaru XV is a very flawed car yet it sells a lot here in Australia and imo looks great. The fact that Subaru insists on underwhelming engines and problematic semi-autos is what ruins it for me. The Focus Active is what Ford should have green-lit for Australia as well as the US. It could give the XV a run for its money.

They've already said that the Fusion name WILL continue for the USA.

From my point of view a Fusion high-roofed crossover makes no sense given the Escape, Edge, and Explorer already covering the market here. Then add in the Bronco--which I think will be a tremendous success--and it begins to look like they could have just done a new Fusion sedan.

If a Fusion wagon had been offered here, I'd have gotten one, but the Bronco is on my short list to replace my Fusion.

They need to get Mulally back. Having no sedans is just asinine.

Having no sedans is weird and stupid. Bringing back what sounds like the Taurus X is asinine.

Indeed.

I'd have done a new Fusion and a new Flex (Explorer LWB). If you look at the Flex, its sales have been pretty stable despite it being as old as dirt.

A "softroader", 3-row, Expedition alternative with a PHEV powertrain would seriously be a good thing.
