Default 2017/18 Volkswagen Touareg

New Touareg spied:

Looking OK. And better resolved design-wise than the Crossblue.

I wonder if the new leadership at VW is moving things faster in terms of launches. There seems to be a flurry of new product activity unlike what we've seen in the past.

Leave this overpriced turd in Europe. The Crossblue needs to replace the truly dismal ToeRag.

This Toureg > Crossblue in my opinion. Looks a lot more interesting and appealing and the covers aren't even off.

Well it better does, given that pricing is in other spheres nearly. This will probably be 50 or more % more expensive than a Cross Blue

How much does this share with the Skoda Kodiaq?
It looks as if Volkswagen is trying to move, stylistically, to the sportier end of the VAG group - mainly Porsche.

Now i don't mean the likes of the new Passat and Tiguan look like a 911 or a Macan, but there is definitely a larger push from Volkswagen towards a sportier and more aggressive look. Comparing the old Passat & Tiguan with the new ones, its evident. Renders of the new Golf and Polo show same intend over their current designs.

It shares the MQB platform, and a generally similar appearance. So not much more than the majority of VAG products. Whilst looking similar, the Cross Blue should be bigger, and most likely it will have different engines, being a US model only (well, probably China might get it at some point too, given the number of different VWs sold there)

What I do agree with is the general move of VW towards a flatter, wider and sportier stance in their products, unlike many previous cars that kind of stressed their upright and practical shape (in comparison to many contenders) visually....

CrossBlue would have been interesting to see in Australia but doubt there will be a RHD version.

As for VW's new design, yeah i like it but at the same time the chrome grill should be avoided on their smaller/cheaper cars IMO as it might look tacky. The headlights i like on the Passat, i like them on the Tiguan but they somehow look a bit forced, while the tail lights on both haven't convinced me entirely. I think on the Passat the taillights look too small compared to the front (if they went for ultra thin LEDs instead it would have looked nicer) and the ones on the Tiguan are slightly forced again. Somehow they look like those speculative renders you look at times and think 'nah VW wouldn't have done it like that' yet they come and prove you wrong!

The Touareg is VW version of the Q7 version of the Bentley version of the Cayenne version: one car, four badges. The Crossblue is a 7 Seat SUV looking FWD big tiny van.

Quite clearly the production version of the T-Prime GTE Concept, which isn't a bad thing.

Amazing, though, how quickly they bring that concept to production versus the CrossBlue.
