Default Contest idea...

Hey my first post here, but just reading along and thought an interesting design study would this...

What would the AMC line look like today if it were never absorbed by Chrysler?

Imagine a retro Hornet or Pacer...

I'm pretty sure even the best concept car designers at Toyota sometimes hate what they have to work with, so why should amateur designers have it any easier?

How about a modern day recreation of the BMW M1?

Not a contest idea, but only suggestion: why don't write comments about the entries in every voting? I think it would be very helpfully...

Ok people... I'm open to suggestions on the next contest. I was thinking an "I could have done it better" contest, in which you pick a new car that you don't like and try to come up with a better design solution, but that's pretty broad... any ideas?

"Your perfect car."

Pretty broad, but I reckon it'll be pretty interesting to see what comes up.

I have no idea guys... and what's more, I've been super busy lately and I'm having major computer issues now (using my roommate's at the moment... had to send mine off to get fixed...again). Aidan or Ben or whoever's running this at the moment, you can go ahead and choose for me...

Sorry guys!

Quick ideas:

A bunch of ideas here:

Redesign one of these Icons:

- Fiat 500
- Renault 4
- Mercedes G Class
- Land Rover Defender
- BMW Isetta
- Datsun 1600
- Pontiac GTO
- Dodge Ramcharger
- Ford Bronco
- Faecel Vega
- Renault 5
- VW Kombi Van
- Mitsubishi Pajero/Shogun
- Nissan Patrol
- International Scout
- Ford F Series

In fact, you can give just about any area of the market (say "Hot hatches", or "Muscle cars" or "4X4s" and give as a topic "Redesign any traditional Icon to fit into this category"...

and so on...

That would be an OK contest, although none om my cons are in tere, and a clear, unified contest would be good, so that all are doing the same thing and there would be no judgin bias (ie if you liked a certain icon more than another).

I will edit in some ideas below:

"Create a compact car which gives a feeling of youth, speed, and optional agressiveness. It must stand out amongst the youth market, as well as win the lusts of middle-age-crises men. And, to be even more compatible with the youth market, it must be modifiable (though make sure the image is stock). You must also show some modern interior pleasures which will enhance the youth thrill of the vehicle."

"Create a vehicle with the bold looks of french auto design combined with american looks that are BOTH upscale, alrge and imposing, while also have a conservative and allurious feel (ie combo of Renault, Lincoln, Buick). The result should be a vehicle that would really spike the consideration of older buyers."

"Create an MPV which would maximize thrill, hot styling, interior flexibility abd ESPECIALLY make good use of interior room. It must be a vehcile in which youth and the feamle gender would not be embarasse in at any time. I emphasize functionality, however. It may be no larger than the Mazda5."

"Create the cheekiest vehicle imaginable- but make the design likeable enough that it would still have massive sales opportunities. Examples are Renault Twingo ad Nissan Micra."

"Create a vehicle that is packed with tecnological safety innovations, and at the same time, gives the exterior impression that it is safe."

I would reccomend one of these, or something along the lines, as they are specific, fit a wide range of participants, and would be easy to judge.

And more than that, PLEASE let's get started! I may be new to this board but I sure love any reason to design.
