Default MartinEDesign's thread!

Hi guys
I am new on this forum, I heard about it from NelsonDesign, whom I know through a site called Speedanddesign.net.
I am a 16 year old dude from Denmark, who has a passion for car design! So in my sparetime I draw cars, as many as I can
My experience ain't big, but I have won one contest on S&D. I sketch usually with pen, and if I like the design I render it with markers or in photoshop.

So I will start posting some of my designs:

The first one is a Mustang based on my imagination/ what I remember. I drew at school and finished it off at home.

The next is a car I made in my sketchbook with a pen, and I like how raw it looked, so I took it into PhotoShop and rendered it. Keep in mind I have only just begun using Photoshop.

This is the same before a sideview I liked, so I took it into Photoshop.

And last but not least a Chrysler looking sketch I made, wich I also took into Photoshop. This is the render I have used the most time on, and I think it is the best too:

I would appreciate some comments and critic, and I will also comment on you guys drawings

Welcome to CSS, it's great to have you on board. Your work has a lot of promise and I look forward to seeing some more of it. I'm sure you will find that we are probably a little more relaxed than S&D, but we have a lot of fun and there are plenty of aspiring designers here with a lot to offer. You may also want to check out our contests section; there's a new contest every few weeks and we're always looking for more participants!

Again, welcome and I hope you enjoy your time here.

Very cool style you have.

I love the middle 2 the best.

Not so keen on the Chrysler though, but it's a good render.

As DoMiNo mentioned, I hope you can participate in the contests.

So, yeah! Welcome!!

Welcome to CSS! :woot2:

I love the 'raw' sports car.

Your drawings have a very unique style. The designs are chunky and bold. They're from the Dodge school of thought.

Welcome aboard! :)

Default Tutorials

Some tutorial I have made over the last couple of years:

A photoshop tutorial I have made for speedanddesign.net
http://speedanddesign.net/v-web/imag...Martin_tut.htm

2 old tutorials:
and a tutorial made to show how to make a sports car from the side (it's in danish but you get the idea)

And another one, don't know what type of car it should represent: (also in danish)

Should I make a thread about this like Nelson?

The car looks nice and all of the sketches are very well done, but I'm struggling to see the innovation in the ID concepts. When I think of industrial design I typically envision a problem-->solution perspective, i.e. a new design solving a problem inherent in the older design. The lawn mower is sleeker than a normal one, to be sure, but what are its practical advantages? The camera, similarly, doesn't quite recast the camera in a new or innovative way, but rather looks like a normal camera.

Perhaps putting them into some kind of context and explaining your vision for the products would help.

Thx a lot domino, I appreciate your comment a lot About the industrial design, they were just practise, in making other stuff than cars, but I will definetly think about what key design elements are different than normal next time
