Main competitors would be the Clio, Fiesta, Corsa and Polo. Those ( together with the 20x ) are traditionally the best selling cars in this segment. The C3, Punto, i20, Rio, Mazda2, Ibiza, Fabia, Swift and Yaris are also competitors. Not exactly a style-heavy field.

Oh, I was under the impression the 20x was smaller than cars like the Ibiza, Fiesta, Fabia, etc.

Nope. 207 was actually one of the largest cars in it's class. This one is slightly smaller, just under 4m.

A bit fussy for my taste really, but I much prefer the proportions of this than the 207.

I could be wrong but it seems like you look at the instrument cluster above the steering wheel rather than through it. I've wanted to do this for years. At 6'2/185 cm the steering wheel always comes uncomfortably high when adjusted for the instrument cluster. And I always have to adjust the seat to the lowest possible position.

As for the design, I find it to be a rather uninteresting blob of a car that they tried to make relevant by adding "interesting" bits and pieces. Of course it's a matter of personal taste but I would rather have an interesting basic design without the flares, but that's just not PSA nowadays.

It's a big improvement over the 207, I think. My only real issues with the design are the 5-door's less interesting sides, and the pointlessly fussy A-pillar base. The gauges inside are strangely far back too, but that may make them easier to see.

SEXY!!!!!!

It evokes the 206 (that itself evoked the 205) which is a VERY good thing. It's one of thoes cars that strike me right at the first pictures I see. And look at that interior! It's like Audi, just less traditional. When and where can I buy this?

Really that is what it seems like. A Yaris with more chi chi. But a Yaris.

That was their intention, according to the later disappeared Autozeitung article. To look at the instruments more like you would look at a HUD, so your eyes have to change focus less. Kind of waht TOyota tried with the first gen Yaris instruments, which brings us back to French Yaris.

However, given that the smaller brothers 107 and Aygo were codeveloped, probably this could bring some explaination....

Given that the 206 is still in production, it will be interesting to see how many generations of small Peugeots will be produced parallel ;-)
