Default 2021 Genesis G80

Did anyone know it was going to debut this month???

I like the look but... does anyone else think that this looks like a RWD Sonata??? Perhaps it'll look a bit more like an Audi A7 in real life.

That dos look like an Audi A5 sportback with RWD proportions; Not bad though, however, I think these fastbacks should also be hatchbacks;

They announced a week or so ago that it would debut in person towards the end of the month, but the early online reveal was a surprise to me.

This looks great. Significant update from the outgoing generation. I'm particularly fond of the interior, which obviously follows the themes from the GV80 but looks even better IMO:

great looking and very striking. for some reason, maybe it's just the pictures so far, the design details look better here than on the SUV

I do believe there was a mention this would debut soon so it appearing now is not a surprise. It feels like a GV80 stretched over a sedan, not a bad thing but perhaps not always the best idea.

Not a fan of the giant grill or the bumper.

This is a pet peeves of mine, as well. Americans have a well-deserved reputation for hating hatchbacks, but, since traditional sedans don't sell as well here as they used to, why not just make it a more convenient hatch???

I really like the way the door panels flow into the dash. Remind me a bit of the last-gan Supra (but done better here).

Side view is magnificent. Front and rear...not so much. I think they work much better on the GV80 rather than here.

Full reveal last night. The digital instrument cluster incorporates glasses-free 3D viewing tech (see description here: https://www.carscoops.com/2020/03/co...-genesis-gv80/)

Aside from it being a cool-sounding technology (and so much of that press release was marketing-speak that I couldn't really understand it), is there some sort of functional advantage to having a 3-D display? I just see it being an additional distraction, if the graphics are TOO fancy, and I also don't understand the part about the tech used to determine the driver's line of sight and head position (since it's all still displayed in the gauge cluster, rather than on the windshield, right?).

BTW, I hadn't noticed the strip of chrome encircling the lower half of the exterior. Wish it were a thin strip (which I think would be far more elegant).

Stunning. Such an elegant design all around. I'm glad Genesis is finally finding an identity. And say what you will about the G90, they've got a really unique design language rolling.

Not sold on the deep metallic paint and I think the flatter, more modern colors show it off better. And something about chrome 5 spoke wheels looks... aftermarket? Dated? Interested in playing around with the configurator...
