Default 2021 Lexus IS

We don't have a spy shots thread so sticking in here. I had no idea new IS was coming.

June 9, 7:00 p.m. EST in the U.S. and June 10 at 8 a.m. JST in Japan.

really hoping they debut a new infotainment system. Remote-touch is a pain to use

It's apparently a new body/interior, but on the same platform so it's more of a "heavy" refresh than an all new generation. No TNGA for the IS...

That’s not confirmed yet. It could go either way. This is a 7 year old car for goodness sakes

Hence “apparently.” And Lexus has older models than that...

Actually, most brands have; Usually platforms live on for two generations, the Audi MLB platform, e.g., also dates back to 2006/7 with the Audi A5; Whilst it got refreshes, the base is not that fresh yet it works; Also BMW will reuse the RWD 2 series chassis in the upcoming 2 series RWD models; Generally I would hardly regard the IDS' platform as it's major weak link, a new interior (and, as said, new ICE) would be good, and, if it's not just a reskin but actually a new body on the old platform, a bit more space on the rear seats;

Btw., I was under the impression that the "new model but old platform" had already been more or less official?

Not really liking the return of the full width tail lamp. Reminds me of the first gen oldsmobile auroraboros.

the IS chassis is fine, problem is its the smallest in its class with the ATS/CT2 lemon.

This will not be sold in Europe where Lexus fares better selling small SUVs. The US market has never been kind to this compact entry luxury car after 2-3 years of a new model. It's certain to be based on the existing car and then fizzle out and away along with the GS which Toyota left to die on the vine a long time ago.

Unable to command the high transaction prices of the traditional German rivals, Lexus struggles to bring competitive power trains, features and exclusivity to the segment. With everyone wanting to project an image of immediate prosperity, "Value Luxury" is on it's way out with the irritating, judgemental yet sensible baby-boomers. IMO

The Range Rover Evoke and Velar are single family brothels.
