There were some BMW 5 series E60 aftermarket kits which featured kidneys down to the ground. I commented that they looked like features from then popular christina aguilera. Here we are again, anyone seen x-tina?

Possibly. But they already have 2 different front bumpers on the current 4 series, so there is no reason they can't do the same here.

Let China have their pig nose and else where can have a tasteful front bumper clip.

I'm not a fan of this grill and especially the area surrounding it on the bumper, but it could've been worse.

IMO blacked out version could be quite OK, plus it's definitely something fresh and this have proven many times to sell well, despite being ugly. Overall the car is rather nice and realistically what other options the potential customers have?
At least in Europe the only real options are Merc and Audi or stepping up to Porsche.

M4 should probably look better - even larger grill, but based on the spyshots hopefully without all this unnecessary detailing surrounding it.

Plus I must admit I absolutely love this new arctic race blue color.

Well I'm going to buck the trend, I think the front looks good. Was dreading it but the numberplate for me saves it.

I remember when Audi first did it and everyone gasped, now it's perfectly normal....will be the same here.

To each their own, although I'd argue that the Audi example isn't entirely on point. At least with Audi those jurisdictions requiring a front plate had the plate entirely within the grille and it didn't interrupt the styling/detail of the grille itself. Audi appears to have designed the grille with that practicality in mind.

BMW seems to have just said "oh well, that's tough" and did not consider that practical aspect at any point. Here the plate intersects with the grille in a way that crosses the center vertical line and obscures some of the detail itself between the two sections in the middle, making it more jarring and the plate more "tacked on" looking that it would otherwise.

Agreed. The Audi grille was simply (and horrifically) large, but the proportions of the grille, in isolation, were fine.

The proportions of the BMW grille have been completely distorted, including the top half.

i thought the exact opposite when i saw this. the numberplate took a bad design and made it look ridiculous

More pictures before the official reveal:

The rear 3/4 view looks pretty awkward as well.
