The brilliant move for the USA would be to put the Yuntu on sale as the Cherokee and kill the thing they call a Cherokee.

Why? Cherokee sales are on pace to top 200,000 this year. Obviously the updated look helped. In 2015 the best so far they sold over 220k and at the current average rate they could do 250k for 2018.

And you went back in time 5 months why exactly?

The fact remains that 200K units in the crossover market isn't red hot and neither is 250K units. The bogey is more than 100% higher in volume than 200K units that you think is soooooo amazing of a a sales performance.

The Yuntu has the looks to pull off those higher numbers. The Cherokee is simply OK at best, but looks are nothing that is causing a stampede.

Chrysler's s*** reputation is more to blame than looks.

To be fair, it#s not like pre FCA Chryslers were exactly engineering marvels or masterpieces of reliability and build quality; even under the Mercedes umbrella (okay, at a time when Mercedes had hit it#s rock bottom quality wise, but still)

There was a lot of Mitsubishi garbage before the Fiat garbage. One of Sergio's dumb moves was not inking a deal with Mazda so the latter could do for FCA what it did for Ford.

They did now for one car. But still no Coupe version with +250 PS, neither for 30K nor 50K.

A partnership with Mazda would have been a wise and logical move, so likely - or even naturally -that made no sense to Sergio...
