I think importing it from Germany didn't help profitability either.

Despite all the logical argumentation behind that decision, it is always sad to see a car gone and getting replaced by yet another Cross Over....

The factory in Germany is no longer a GM factory, so they have to pay PSA to manufacture that model line.

I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that GM would have likely sourced that car from China, but the political climate and tariffs made it too hard, and thus they decided to ax the model.

I know the pel situation, but then again the Insignia is pure GM tech, so I assume PSA also has to pay some royalities to GM for using the platform, tech and engine line up (though no words on engines at the update, probably some PSA ones might be used, though I doubt that sales figures will justify integrating a completely different engine architecture to the GM platform for the second half of the model lineup's life)....

I'm surprised that GM did not use the Chinese source, after all they do make the Regal there as well, and they do already import one of their SUVs from there , right?

Correct, the Envision is sourced from China, but the tariffs haven’t fully gone into effect, and GM has openly talked about how politics have threatened that model line’s profitability and future.

Not to mention the Envision is near the end of its life and its replacement, the Enspire, is probably not going to be sourced from China

Why did they even bother with the facelift? It's barely noticeable and looks very much a rush job and now it looks even more dated. So somehow they have managed to make the car look older than it really is.

VEry likely no GM era Opel will be allowed to wear a Chrysler badge, but the next generation Insignia - of there is one, as a classic sedan, and doesn't become a CUV, like everything - certainly has chances to become a Chrysler.
