not really blown away by its rear and those humongous side airvents, but everything else is just WOW! and since this is 8 series, I bet it looks waaaay more impressive (because of its dimensions) in person, than it does on these photos!

This looks more like an i8 in 'conventional clothing' than a 6 to me. Never liked the current 6.

What was your opinion of the 850i? I happen to have loved it even though it was a sales dud.

Looks very nice. But that is because other than the grill, it does not look like a BMW.

The 850i in my eyes is one of the most stunning cars ever. Subtle yet aggressive and beautifully proportioned. I didn't like the current 6 because i felt it looked dated even before it went on sale. The front lights lacked the sportiness and confidence of the 850 and even the not-so-perfect Bangle era 6er looked a lot more purposeful and attractive to me than the current one.

Although I don't like some detailing on the bumpers the car is absolutely stunning. Love the small headlights and sharp lines. And that color is fantastic. Interior not so much - boring as hell.

Stop the presses!
How could any one have foreseen this?
I'm blindsided by this.
LOL

Of course there will be an M trim level offering.

... I keep repeating myself over and over again: The new 8 series is a rebadged 6 series. Looking at the concept you can sense that this is not a genuine luxury coupe with the ability to compete with the next generation Bentley Coupe or the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe.

Aside from that BMW will have a hard time when it comes to revealing the final version. Where the concept has very convincing and crisp design details like the shark-nose style front design, prototypes show that the final version will receive a much more conservative treatment. I assume it will then be justified by pointing towards safety regulations and aerodynamics. Like several concepts before this example could lead into strong disappointment by overpromising and underdelivering.

By the way, how nervous must people at BMW be that they show the 8 series concept and the M8 prototype simultaneously? From a strategic point of view this launch communication is everything but brilliant.

BMW is having a terrible identity crisis. Hanging out with Toyota wont help either.
