The minivan market was been vacated by many lately. hmmm

Not much hope for a growing sedan market, thats for sure.

Well given that the Mark has been Lincoln's coupe offering, it stands to reason that...

Ah hell, Corvette pickups for everyone then.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/04/30/ford...ove-fatal.html

Interesting article. It taps into something I'd not thought of... they're going to focus on something they can 'win' at - leaving cars to GM, imports alike. Imports have never won at trucks - but do pretty good at CUVs.

Last year the top 20 car sales represented about 4M cars in USA. Say Hyundai eventually comes out with a tuck - and it's good. Normally a consumer might not have considered it as they've been a loyal F150 consumer...but b/c Focus or Fusion isn't offered - they bought a Sonata - and love the hell out of it. All of a sudden, Hyundai has a much better chance at getting the next truck sale...

This Hackett guy is not impressing thus far. He's a cost cutter; and it's showing, big time.

Maybe Ford needs to follow Maybach's route and try for a suv sedan.

Maybe Ford should follow Toyota and Honda's route of refreshing their cars every 4-5 yrs, rather than letting them languish and become outdated....

^^^DO THAT^^^

Moreover, the Fusion has been facelifted TWICE and is indistinguishable from the 2013. The Mustang makeover was also nearly impossible to distinguish from the 2015.

Conservative granny panty Toyota has certainly picked up the product lifecycle pace lately. Reviews for the new 5 door corolla are decent, all 168 HP of it... heh.

I seriously wonder whether the jettisoning of Ford's sedans is evidence of them getting ready to tie up with someone like Geely--which would make tremendous sense--as Ford looks to secure its future.

FCA should have been merged/bought out LONG AGO and now if anyone get it, they will have major reconstruction. The Chinese aren't stupid. Thus a tie up with a manufacturer in essentially good condition would be more desirable than buying a basket case.

Ford is in a relatively stable condition. Will we see an announcement?

Not a chance.

No way the family sells the business.
