That would make a delightful Passat replacement for NA.

German Auto, Motor & Sport has this supposedly offical design sketch with, compared to the real life shots, very optimistic proportions, but also showing, that the only detail that seems to have made it form the concept is a small triangle below the head light:

The "smoky" teaser images are 50 shades of gorgeous hot. Too bad VW won't build it in Chattanooga as a Passat for NA and the Skoda Superb for elsewhere.

I can imagine an even larger version to go after the Avalon.

It actually stays VERY close to the concept

The biggest differences are the bigger headlights, different sculpted hood and probably rear lights.
Side view is practically not distinguishable beside the flatter rear of the concept.

Sorry, but proportions (the production car is higher, way more Ocativa like, and the different - now bog standard Skoda - rear) make it totally different, and not even a lot of detailing made it over, thanks to different front and tail lights. Only visible resemblance is general size, the standard Skoda(resp. VAG) green house, and the triangle as a design theme here and there. To me, the concept looks like an A7 version of a standard A6 Superb, sharing DNA but not much more. I still think that - like most new VAG designs, incl. Golf, Passat and Octavia - standard versions (normal sized wheels, not shiny pres spic colors - in real life will look scaringly bland.....

I dare to disagree, the side view looks identical to me up to the B pillar until it's naturally different sedan line.
Honestly, did you expect the headlights to look like on the concept? Because they are pretty much nonexistent in concept form. I find it's as close to the concept as it can get, but maybe my expectations are just too low already for VAG models :)

Yet a few more pics of the red car shown above.

And it does mostly look like a large Octavia. So no surprises.
