Default Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport

My, what a long name. I guess this is the VW version of an Explorer? It's still huge (and even wider than the regular Atlas!), despite being shorter and, well, shorter.

I do think that VW is trying to give the public what they want (more crossovers), and this isn't half bad looking. The illumination spanning the entire front end (grille included!) is kind of cool. If the X4/X6 and GLC/GLE "coupes" can find a market, why not this?

Atlas:Explorer::Atlas Cross Sport:Edge

This should be in concepts because this isn't the production model.

That debuted in China already.

Yikes, only saw "official info" and totally blanked on the concept part. Sorry about that.

Mods, please move this.

So this appears to be the old Cross Coupe GTE Concept with some modifications up front and rear bumper

With Honda rumored to be introducing a Pilot SWB/Sport, I wonder what Ford will do to make the Edge more competitive.

It##s easy to get lost with all those similar to near identical looking VW Cross Over (concepts). That one car shown in China (still without name, but it was the yeloow one) looks also suspiciously like the production version of this, yet probably will be like 2cm shorter or lower, so already justifying a seperate model in VW's eyes....

IMO the Edge is exactly in the segment this or a rumored Pilot SWB would slot into. The Explorer goes against the 7 seat/LWB versions. The Edge is more car like (or Coupe Cross Over as it is in nowadays marketing speak), again what this is aiming for compared to the family truckster Atlas...

FWD with truck like sitting position. Totally pointless.

How is the Edge not competitive? 160K units in sales in NA for a niche crossover is pretty impressive.
