Default 2018 Seat Tarraco

Might debut at Geneva, sister car to the Skoda Kodiaq, but seems to be based off the Tiguan Allspace (thanks madskillz)

I am intrigued by the new Seat grill here.

It'll be produced at VW plant, so it might turn out more similar to Tiguan Allspace afterall.
IMO there's more VW than Skoda in the side profile in this teaser.

So much more attractive than the ugly faces on the Tiguan and Jetta.

I agree, I spent a fair bit of time trying to find the hard points from the Kodiaq and honestly none were matching up. Comparing the Karoq and Ateca, the hard points are easy to find so I was wondering how extensive of a job Seat did. I brightened up the photo and the rear D pillar and window seems nothing like what a Kodiaq sourced car would yield but comparing it to the LWB Tiguan, it all makes sense now.

Looking at this photo
https://www.netcarshow.com/volkswage...llpaper_02.htm

Easily shows the hard points, A pillar, side doors here. Guess it is a sister car to both the tiguan allspace and Kodiaq, after all they share the same platform and have an identical wheelbase 2,791 mm, oddly enough the allspace is also slightly longer, evident in real life, the thing is long.

It's a Tiguan with a SEAT face, so nothing surprising or unexpected there. What is unexpected is how handsome the SEAT face they've grafted onto it is.

If they sold that as the Tiguan in the USA it might sell better than the Oldsmobile they are calling a VW. The Tiguan simply isn't a credible threat to the CRV/RAV4 leaders and its dumpy styling has to have something to do with that.

It actually makes a lot of sense, as SEATs are also sold in Mexico and the Tiguan is built there as well, so I guess it will be localized for this market (the view unique parts can be shipped over).

I just hope that the next gens of Ateca and this one will get their very own designs after the success of the first gen.

It was already confirmed that this will be a Tiguan Allspace with different front end and lights (think Sharan/Alhambra); Even the trim on the doors looks identical;

Whilst it might make sense form an isolated Seat point of view to have yet another MQB based CUV, I doubt it will add a single additional sale to the whole VAG conglomerate; There are already so many CUV and SUV models in the VAG lineup, all looking pretty much identical, and given usually at least 2 of the brands also share dealer showroom, every potential customer already had a plethora of choices...

Potential SEAT customers don't usually cross-shop with other Volkswagen brands.

I think it is true what MGman said, this could very well take away sales from Kia Sorento, Nissan X-Trail & Co.
The identical twins SEAT Ateca and Skoda Karoq both sell more than they can produce, so I wouldn't worry about the VW internal cross-shopping.
