But the early 307s and especially the 807 were always bottom end of any reliability statistics. but nowadays all you hear are some not so fresh 207s with the chain issue (as you say, on a BMW codeveloped engine) and occasional hard top leakages with the 207 CC. But especially teh new generation of "08" cars seem to be much better than the image.....
My sister owned a 307 and someone I worked with had one as well. The "quality control" was so lacking, it was quite shocking - rattles so numerous it was laughable, electrical gremlins, water ingress into doors etc. It's good to hear that more recent Peugeot's are better, but those experiences my sister and work colleague had would make me wary of considering buying or leasing one, even today - some stigmas for some are hard to overcome.
