I can't help but I do find recent BMW interiors very busy, and slightly dated looking. And no matter how cool the tech behind it is, or how expensive the materials, but as a result, they don#t look that premium to me.

The problem with the Z4 was that it was tremendously "un-special" and the Z5 looks to be repeating the same error. In a car like this, the interior should be an "event". I'd have love to have seen some of the steam-punk look of a Pagani. Something...anything to make it interesting.

Ripping out the nav screen would be a good first step.

I've been trying to put my finger on why this is the case (I also don't think BMW interiors look that expensive), even though material quality is supposed to be quite high.

I think it's b/c the detailing looks like it's been done w/ a thick marker or crayon. In MB, Audi, and (optional) Volvo interiors , there's a sense of delicacy, attention to small details, and a sense of the interior being designed w/ specific material quality in mind that seems to be utterly lacking in BMWs.

W/ BMW, it's like they took their pre-existing interior design (which is pretty coarse and a bit crude), covered it w/ better materials (maybe), and then threw on a few satin-finished trim bits here and there. And that's the other thing; satin-finish just doesn't look as upscale as chrome to me.

The nowadays (at least for BMW) inevitable leak of patent drawings, and, well, yawn. Nothing really wrong and ugly, but at the same time most of what made the (production ready looking) concept interesting is gone; Also, if this was say a 2008 model, no one would have called the design radical or overly modern back then. I also don't think this looks any more special or premium than a significantly cheaper Mazda MX5...

Hmm don't want to rush into conclusions based on that alone but it looks like a modern Jaguar fused with a modern Mercedes Coupe...I hope it looks great in the metal

It looks dull and uninspired. It reminded me of an Eclipse convertible the styling looks so old and dated. This will be another epic fail for sales just as the current model also is. It will be too expensive and too drab and dreary to consider buying. This does not bode well for the Supra.

I am really disliking BMW's bumpers, some of them, depending on trim level, are too busy and don't seem to well meshed with the design.

It somehow reminds me more of the Fiat 124 Spider than I feel it should...
