Certainly a palm rest, though I don't know why it would be poorly designed. That said, I'm not sure you will use the gear selector buttons so much that it requires a palm rest (usually I press D once in an auto), unlike say some selector for infotainment, where you probably keep the hand resting longer....

I have no sales numbers, but these are everywhere in the Tampa Bay area. They look good in person too.

I just read that Norway - where everyone loves EVs - they are crazy for the Kona EV, with demand far outnumbering the supply...

Other than a keen pricing i still struggle to even consider buying a Kona. I feel it looks mostly unattractive with the 'borrowed' styling cues from Citroen at the front the only appealing part of the car's design. Sure its a decent vehicle and Hyundai gives a lot of incentives to get you to buy one but i'm really disappointing that this is selling to well even here in Australia while the Citroen Cactus is more of a novelty. The limited dealerships for Citroen here as well as the bad rep that came with French cars (reliability, high depreciation and expensive servicing and parts) plays a huge part in this but i still can't warm up to the Kona's success.

I think the Kona is more of a right package case than a stand out in any respect car; It#s design is busy and borrowed here and there, but ultimately not too quirky for the majority; It's the right size for many, and the base model is not as bare bones as some German base models despite okay prices (Hyundai/Kia is certainly not as bargain as they used to be anymore just based on price), and long warranty will ultimately give most customers an nice package all round.

Let's assume that the face strangeness is borrowed from Citroen and not the Cherokee, at least the Kona does that awkward design decision better the either Citroen or the Cherokee's last face.
