Default Volkswagen Atlas Tanoak Pickup Concept

https://www.netcarshow.com/volkswage...ickup_concept/

A very long name, but as a vehicle , it makes a lot of snese; Car based truck, and the Atlas' truck like deisgn even works here;

This is one beautiful pickup truck (y)
But of course VW won't build it like that, because it could make sense

Yes, and it would be a brilliant move to target a vehicle that is a total sales failure. The Amarok is more in keeping with the volume leaders in the segment.

Makes sense. But still not much.

The Ridgeline is a failure, because, look at it... practical wise, itís a home run. However, truck buyers donít want an emasculated truck. IF VW could make THIS concept, itíd be a slam dunk for sales. They wonít, so itís a mute point.

You confuse a failing vehicle with a growing segment of small pickups that this can certainly try to take a piece of.

I think that here the very square and truckish design of the base vehicle (Atlas) makes for a much better "truck look" than it does with the Honda Ridgeline (that looks like an MPV with a bed);

Even the boxy hard plastic interior makes a lot more sense in a truck; If they manage to produce this and keep the extended cab look (I think it looks better than many regular double cabs) and faux separate bed look (it is still very certainly a monocoque, and as MQB based, one could say VW Polo related ;)), this could be the winner that the Ridgeline isn't.

Unfortunately, VW will probably show this around as a concept for several motor shows, and by the time they finally make a decision, the market will be crowded with smaller trucks.

How is it a growing segment with ONE entry in the entire segment with that one model selling dismally?
