Only because Toyota didn't release the picture, but that IS the car.

Everything already looks stale in the design and everything is fundamentally wrong. Specially that rolled up peacock tail that no one finds it cool any more (it's 2019, not 1999). And the upper body of the car appearing as thick as the lower body (in terms of the vertical proportion) makes it look old school, far from looking sharp or athletic. Such a proportion only works for cars like the BMW X4 which wants to appeal as a neo classic convertible which the Supra isn't. And its size looks as miniscule as the Miata. Toyota is totally lost with the Supra. I have never been so genuinely disappointed in Toyota like this.

The picture is official. Toyota Mexico made a boo boo and released a video featuring the car by mistake, and had to take it down.

That said, this is the first time I'm actually looking forward to seeing third party body kits because as it stands, the design is rather horrendous.

Here's hoping it'll drive better than it looks.

That is a certainty.

The first problem is that it is supposed to be the same price as a base Corvette, so obviously the Corvette is by far the better performance choice.

The second problem is that the Camaro SS and Mustang GT will meet of beat the performance easily for $20K less.

All three of these vehicles look better.

No factor in the less-than-Toyotalike reliability of a BMW and the prospect of a Supra gets more sour by the second.

Can't confirm, but reports are saying the car will start at 49k, which would undercut an automatic stingray by about 9k. The vette will beat it 0-60 by about a full second, which is pretty huge.
The Mustang will run circles around it and costs less, but that's true for a 911 as well. It will be interesting to see how it handles in comparison.

Gonna reserve judgment until reviews come in, but it can really go either way.

For all you people sad that it's a BMW powertrain, would it help if someone swapped a 500-600hp twin turbo 2JZ and 6 speed manual instead?

I wager that prices of a 2JZ-GTE / V160/161 are approaching MSRP for the new car itself

The insult of a BMW engine in a Supra would be like putting a Ford V8 in a Corvette. The engine is the heart of a sports car and this heart is a BMW not a Supra.
