I think anything about this being a mini G-Class was simply MB "leaking" that information to stir up interest. They told journalists that the current C-Class coupe would be even better looking than the S-Class coupe, and I think the C-Class coupe isn't anywhere near as attractive (and is likely MB's weakest current styling effort).

Likely the rumor came form some internal sources, but I don't understand this as little as some of those exaggerated teaser sketches (especially looking at Hyundai, Kia and VAG there). Why build up high expectations that will not be met then?
Personally I liked the GLK's styling somehow, it was different, and boxy plus RWD proportions look better than this "soft box on a slightly too small FWD chassis". Let#s hope there is still some grace hiding under that camo...
Whilst I agree that the c-Class coupe is nowhere near as good lookingh as teh S-Class (main problem IMO is that it looks somehow too small for it#s design language, which works brilliantly on the large coupe), but the weakest design? I'd argue that GLE coupe with it#s weird hump, the CLA and the new A-Class sedan certainly are way more quantifiable for that title...
